Have you seen any of the Star Wars movies? If you have, then one thing that probably amazed you is all of the unbelievable technology that you see in these movies.

There are the spaceships. They can take off from a planet by rising straight up in the air. Then fly through the atmosphere into space. Then they make the jump to light speed. And it all happens in 5 minutes. When people have to move on the ground, they often do it using cars that float. Speeder bikes and land speeders float in the air a foot or two off the ground rather than using wheels and tires. There are the amazing droids that are able to walk, talk, repair space ships, fool humans and everything else. And then there are the weapons -- blasters, lightsabers, turbo lasers, Death Stars, thermonuclear detonators and so on.

The question that anyone would have is, "When do we get to have all this stuff in real life?" Will there ever come a day when you have a spaceship parked in your garage? And when you do, will you be able to fly to the moon in 15 minutes for lunch? What about a speeder bike? Will you be able to cruise through a forest at 50 MPH? Will people ever have a shootout using blasters? And what about the droids? Will you ever have a droid companion that cleans your room, does your homework and walks the dog? It's amazing to think about. Just the speeder bikes would be worth it! Let's see how long it will be before these different Sci-fi technologies will become reality, if ever ...
